Why Do Bad Things Happen to “Good” People?

Posted in Justice at 5:51 pm by TruthofmyKing

Let me re-arrange the title and ask you, “Why do good things happen to “bad” people?

Modern Chrisitanity has everything turned around.  We do not start with the true teaching that all men and women deserve nothing short of hell.  That is to say, we deserve nothing short of being tormented day and night beyond the comprehension of our carnal minds for an eternity.  There has only been one man that has ever walked on this earth that did not deserve hell and that man, was Jesus, who is the Christ.

I bid you, find me one man, if you can, that “deserves” anything less than eternal punishment from a Holy God.  We have all sinned and have fallen short of the Glory of our God and the wages of our sin is “death”.

I propose that if a man TRULY understood this teaching, then he would consider anything short of this punishment as “mercy”, an act of kindness, perhaps even “grace”.

If the Lord cast me in hell, I would have no response except “God is good, God is just, I am getting what I deserve.”  And if He allowed me to set just one foot outside of hell while the rest of me burned, it would be an act of mercy on His behalf.

So you see, starting at this point, puts everything in its proper perspective.  What “calamity” has come upon us in this present day that we can compare to what we actually deserve?  There is no comparison for a man in whom the Lord has revealed the sinfulness of his sin.

Now, come let me reason with the one who professes faith in Christ, and says “God doesn’t want these things to happen”.

May I ask you, is God sovereign?  That is to ask, isn’t He in COMPLETE control, or not?

The word sovereign means: independent of all others; supreme in power, rank, or authority.

Does it escape you what is written in God’s word:

1 Tim 6:15

15 which He will bring about at the proper time - He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords; NASB

If God is sovereign, and He is, then all the calamity that happens in this present evil age happens with His full knowledge and with His permission.  Tell me, was Job taken captive by the devil before God allowed it?  What has ever happened since creation that has been outside of God’s control, that He could not have stopped, or intervened?

What some have done, is created a God in their minds that is nothing like the God of the bible.  This God in their mind does not create evil or calamity.  In fact, I once witnessed a poor minister who, before a crowd of 1,000, put a talking point before us all, which read “God does not create calamity (evil)”.  My heart sank, because He must not have been talking about my God.  For my God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has said:

Isa 45:7

7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

KJV

In which God he was talking about that does not create evil, I do not know, but he certainly was not being faithful to the revealed word through the prophet Isaiah.

If you are reading this article and your heart has sank because the god of your mind has been crushed, then I rejoice in part, not in your ill feeling, but in the destruction of your idol, this god that you have made up in your mind.  Perhaps now you might see the living God and fear Him and fall upon His Son with strong tears yearning for mercy and now you may live.

Consider yet another place in Scripture:

1 Sam 16:14

14 Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD terrorized him.

NASB

Now please answer me plainly, from whom does the infallible words of my God say the evil spirit came?  Yes, it was from Yahweh, the LORD.

1 Sam 16:15

15 Saul’s servants then said to him, “Behold now, an evil spirit from God is terrorizing you.

NASB

C.S Lewis once wrote, and I am fond to remember:

“This God of ours is no tamed lion.”

How many men, women, and children, both young and old, and animals alike, did God horribly drown in the global flood?  How many famines have been brought upon the people by God, Himself?

Consider this passage about a pestilence:

2 Sam 24:15

15 So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning until the appointed time; and seventy thousand men of the people from Dan to Beersheba died.

NASB

In the beginning of this article, I wrote that we deserve nothing short of hell and if you have read to this point then you should be thoroughly convinced that the True Living God is mighty and “terrible” as the Scripture says that He is.  But I also want you to know that God is also merciful.  The punishment of hell that you have deserved has been paid for by another, that is Christ.   He did not have to pay your price for your debt, but He did.  It is a free gift to those who repent and believe in His message.  It is a gift to those who follow after Him with all their heart, mind, and soul.  We do not make up who He is in our minds and follow after false idols but I testify that He will replace your heart of stone with a heart of flesh, He will change you from the inside out, you will then hear the voice of the “Good Shepherd” and you will be a “sheep” of His flock.

He says:

John 10:27-29

27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. 29 “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

NASB

I beg you, accept the free gift today.  Today, if you hear His voice, feel His calling, repent and believe.

But if you refuse I wonder how you will escape God if you neglect so great a salvation?

“Christian” Why Do You Transgress God?

Posted in Justice at 12:27 am by TruthofmyKing

Prov 29:26

26 Many seek the ruler’s favor, But justice for man comes from the LORD.

NASB

Recently, I have witnessed an “injustice” between two persons who profess Christ.  One took the other to secular court in a long drawn out battle, causing a great deal of strife, for no other reason then to gain a financial profit of money.

Yes, it was for nothing more than what the Scripture refers to as “filthy lucre” or “unrighteous mammon”.

My heart truly does become broken over such matters as these.   On the surface it seems as though God’s children do not listen to Him, as this person who has professed Christ has denied God’s guidance by taking another who professes Christ to secular court.  But this appearance of not listening to God is truly on the surface, any student of the Scripture will tell you that the children of God are obedient to His word and His will.

1 John 2:4

4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;

NASB

So you, who profess Christ, why do you transgress God?  Why did you take another to court before the unbelievers?  Have you not read what your Father wants from you in such a matter as this?

Well allow me to direct you to God’s (your professed Father’s) Word:

1 Cor 6:1-8

1 Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts? 3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, matters of this life? 4 If then you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church? 5 I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren, 6 but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers? 7 Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? 8 On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud, and that your brethren.

NASB

How long are we going to call those who profess Christ, “Christians”, who blatantly disobey God time and time again, without any repentance or Godly remorse, or any righting of the wrongs committed against one another?

Why do some have such a disregard for God’s Word, an unwillingness to obey Him?

“Now, mark this: by this shall you know whether you are a child of God, or not; by the respect that you have to your Father’s Word. If you have small respect for that Word, the evidences of a bastard are upon you.”

~Charles Spurgeon

The worse part of this is that it appears that the one who instigated the lawsuit against the other is not in repentance for having directly disobeyed God’s will, but actually is rejoicing in “victory” as the worldly judge rendered worldly justice (did you expect Godly Justice in such an ungodly place?).

Where is the victory in such a thing?  Is it in gaining unrighteous mammon, or your disobedience to God, perhaps your victory is in the strife that was caused among a multitude of people; both young and old, maybe you are rejoicing in the discontentment you had with your God given food and raiment; as you had plenty of both?

As a child of God, I do not expect justice in this life time.

Isa 59:14-15

14 And justice is turned back, And righteousness stands far away; For truth has stumbled in the street, And uprightness cannot enter. 15 Yes, truth is lacking; And he who turns aside from evil makes himself a prey. Now the Lord saw, And it was displeasing in His sight that there was no justice.

NASB

Why would I expect a crown of roses when my Lord was given a crown of thorns?

Eccl 3:15-17

16 Furthermore, I have seen under the sun that in the place of justice there is wickedness, and in the place of righteousness there is wickedness. 17 I said to myself, “God will judge both the righteous man and the wicked man,” for a time for every matter and for every deed is there.

NASB

The beautiful thing about the righteousness of God is that He is just and He sees all things.  There is nothing hidden that will not be revealed.  Do not let your heart be troubled, the intention of the heart of every man and woman involved in such a matter as this is laid open and bare before the eyes of the Lord.

Luke 12:2-3

2 “But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. 3 “Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

NASB

The Scripture is clear, there is only one Judge, and He sees all things, secret and public, your thoughts and words, actions and lack of actions.  ALL THINGS REGARDING THIS MATTER WILL BE BROUGHT BEFORE A MUCH HIGHER COURT!

This will either terrify you or bring you to the point of rejoicing if you are pure of heart!

In this matter, if your prayer and intent of heart all along has truly been for “fairness” and “righteousness” then the day when the Lord comes in His glory this intent of yours will be revealed and you will be vindicated.  But if you have acted deceitfully, lusted or loved money, hated in your heart, wanting ill things to happen to one another, or caused strife for an impure reason, then the day of judgment will likewise reveal that.

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, what a man sows, he will also reap, every man will be held accountable for his works, whether they are good or whether they are bad, and it will be known whether or not one has truly repented with Godly remorse or not, and you should be informed that you are not going to be the judge of yourself.

For if we were the judge of our own souls, we would call good; bad, and bad; good.  We would justify our disobedience to God.  In fact, this kind of false justification of ourselves occurs daily, but it is useless as our judgment of ourselves means nothing if it does not concur with God’s assessment of us.  We may even “fool” many people on this earth that our cause was “just and holy” but you will not fool an Almighty God who has seen and heard every last thought, word, and action that you have ever had.  He has the ultimate discernment of righteousness and He knows when you are contrary to His word and therefore His will.

God will judge according to righteousness; His righteousness, and it will not be contrary to His written word, so IN ALL THINGS obey God in His word so it will be well with your soul.

So is there injustice in this world?

For the time being, it would appear so, but do not judge according to appearance.  For God is ruler of heaven and earth and He has set a day for Jesus to return with all His angels and true justice, not the justice of the world, but justice according to God will be rendered, and it will be the final word.  True believers weep and mourn for the day when they will be vindicated along side of their Lord.

Truly my prayer is that all parties are reconciled to God and to one another and none are found to be under the wrath of God at the time of Judgment.  God wills that none perish and I joyfully concur with His will.  I must also point out that God has been merciful to me, the chief sinner in the world, and if He can be merciful to me, then He can certainly be merciful to all.  My hope for everyone is that the Holy, Just, wrath of God will abide on no man or woman; but I DO HOPE for true repentance, Godly remorse, a turning away of from the things that God hates, and turning to the things that God loves; for these are the very evidences of salvation.

But I do not want you to be deceived nor take me lightly; an unrepentant heart for your smallest of transgressions has the wrath of God stored up in heaven for the day of judgment.

Rom 2:5-6

5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who will render to every man according to his deeds:

NASB

I know that my speech has been hard in this article, but I am growing tired of having a multitude of people professing my Lord as their Savior, all the while they are completely disrespectful to the Will of God for their life.  I know there are many false converts in the Church, and Jesus taught me that I “will know them by their fruits.”  Disobedience to God, causing strife for impure reasons, and loving money, are not good fruit!  However, there is still hope for one who is entangled in such sin, REPENT AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL AND YOU WILL BE SAVED!
